As I started to write this, it occurred to me that Burlap Mason Jars probably have been done a few times already. So…I googled it, and… I found about a billion different versions of them. Should have known, I’m never really on top of trends. Anyways I’m joining in, and today I have my own version for you (just in time for sunflower season)!
You’ll need burlap of any color, (I chose cream because it goes well with our house), jute twine, and a mason jar.
First, measure out a strip of burlap between 4-6 inches wide. I found that I like mine the best at 4 inches because there was more jar showing that way. (Note the measuring tape – it’s been through several construction zones and is looking rugged!)
Next, measure and cut the length to 14 inches.
Wrap the burlap around the Mason jar overlapping the ends in the back. Cut a piece of jute twine 32 inches long and tie it around the jar, securing the burlap into place.
Finally, tie the twine into a knot or bow and trim the ends. Now you’re ready to fill your burlap jar with flowers!
Recently, I was inspired by a friends wedding to make a few projects out of burlap because I love the rustic look that it lends things. Stay tuned for further projects!
- 1 Mason jar
- 1 strip of burlap, 4″ wide x 14″ long
- Jute Twine – I used a piece 32″ long
- 1 bouquet flowers
- Wrap the burlap around the jar, overlapping the ends.
- Secure it with the jute twine. Tie the twine in a knot or bow.
- Fill with flowers and enjoy!
